Skills and knowledge are driving forces of economic growth and social development. They strengthen the ability of individuals and drive them towards innovation and entrepreneurial activities. These skills are needed currently in colleges for better employment opportunities. Initiatives are taken by our college to enrich the skills of aspiring students. Skill development courses are provided to the students of the IIUG and IIIUG programmes: Economics, Economics with logistics and freight management, History, Tamil Literature, Zoology, and English Literature.

The Vision

The Vision of the centre is to create an ecosystem of empowerment by facilitating skill development and to promote a culture of innovation based entrepreneurship which can generate employment so as to ensure sustainable livelihood.

Objectives of Skill Development Centre

The main objectives of this centre are
To create opportunities, space and scope for the development of the talents of the students.
To provide training and skill development.

Execution

The skill development centre is functioning from the academic year 2013-2014 onwards. The courses offered by the centre are well designed by experts in the respective fields. The courses are finalized by the co-ordinater of the centre in the meeting held with the principal. The co-ordinater is assisted by a team of faculty members in organising the courses. These courses enable the students to procure jobs and inculcate the spirit of self employment in the respective fields.

Experts are drawn from the reputed institutions specialized in the fields such as TNAU-Coimbatore, Shri Paranjothi Yoga College at Thirumurthi Hills Udumalpet NIFT-Tea Knitwear Fashion Institute Tirupur, Maruthi School of Banking Coimbatore, recognised Artisans from Crafts Council of India and similar organisations. In association with these institutions, the SDC offers special programmes on Organic forming, Yoga and Naturopathy, Dress painting, Tie and Die, Bags making, Embroidery and Garland Making, Beautician Course, Glass painting, Artificial Jewellery Making, Tailoring, Basket making, Paper Quelling and Travel and Tourism. Coaching for competitive Exams like TNPSC and BSRB are arranged by the centre to enhance the employability of the students. The academics merged with skill training will add value and enhance the chance of employment of the students.
