The Department of Physics was established as a Major Department in the year 1986 at the B.Sc. Degree level, upgraded as a PG department from the academic year 2013-’14 and as a Research department offering Ph.D. Programme from the academic year 2021-’22 onwards. The department is one among 4 Science departments recognised by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India under DBT Star staus Scheme, Department of Science and Technology under FIST (zero level) and DST CURIE project scheme. The department had has well equipped laboratories to carry regular practical experiments and Research activities.
