The OBC cellThe SC/ST Cell was established in the year2011 for the implementation of the various policies and programmes for the welfare of the SC/ST students. It also undertakes initiatives to develop awareness among the SC/ST students, especially from the rural areas. The cell is actively engaged in coordinating and solving the problems of students concerned. The details of various governments’ scholarships fellowship are made available to the students to special circulars.
To create a socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and for the developmentof healthy interpersonal relationships among the students coming from various socialbackground.
To improve the academic skills & proficiency of students in various subjects through necessary guidance and training provided to reduce their failure and dropout rate.
To provide career guidance and psychological counseling for capacity building to the needy.

The Cell is giving wide publicity through circulars to all the faculties and informs the students about the various scholarships; namely, Post-Metric Scholarship, TamilNadu Higher Education Special Scholarship, Meritorious Scholarship,P.G.Women Scholarship, andScholarship forFirst Generation Scholars etc.,
There has been a user friendly counselor to all SC/ST studentson personal and psychological problems.
The Cell takes due care in establishing the Book Bank for the SC/ST students in all disciplines. It advises the students to utilise the facilities of the Book Bank and to borrow books depending on availability.
The SC/ST WelfareCell monitors the functioning of remedial coaching programmes for SC/ST students.
The SC/ST Cell facilitates the NET/SET Coaching programme for the SC/ST students. The coaching is conducted during the evenings and weekend holidays.
Various coaching classes are conducted like remedial coaching, personality development, coaching for competitive exams and so on.

The SC/ST Cell celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr.Ambedkar every year.
The Coordinator ensures due compliance of the orders of reservation issued from time to time in favour of SC/STs. The Coordinator also looks after the prompt disposal of the grievances of the employees of these categories.
The SC/ST students can approach the Coordinator of the Cell to redress any of their grievance(s) regarding academic, administrative or social problems. The Coordinator often meets the concerned student, to understand their problem and takes necessary steps to resolve the matter.
