The UGC women’s Studies Centre of Sri G.V.G Visalakshi College for Women was inaugurated on 08.03.2010, The Autonomous platform has provided the freedom to innovate in the areas of curriculum design and teaching – learning. The life oriented education programmes an innovative programme introduced under autonomy has been redesigned and refurbished, under the aegis of Women’s Studies Centre as Gender Studies.
The Women’s Studies Centre has its foray into curriculum by offering certificate courses in Gender Studies to all UG students and Diploma in Gender Studies to PG students in the faculty of Literature, History and Economics. The Women’s Studies Centre also offers a special “Entrepreneurial Development Course” for Alumnae and for any women candidates with plus two qualifications.The Women’s Studies Centre has been bouncing with various programmes and activities like workshops, training programmes and collaborative programmes to reach the unreached.
Tamilnadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd,Project implementation unit.Tiruppur in association with the college jointly celebrated & organized Entrepreneurs Day & College Bazar (an exhibition cum sale products made by women Self Help Groups) from 20th August to 22nd August 2014 with the participation of 35 SHGS. Sri G.Govindraj,IAS,District Collector, Tiruppur, inaugurated the programme.
Celebrated International Women’s Day on 7th March 2014. Mrs Rani Gunasekaran Zonal Officer, Department of Income Tax enlightened on “Women in Leadership”.

Women’s Studies Centre in association with Cheshire Homes, Coimbatore (Livelihood Resource Centre) organizes the following programmes for differently abled persons.
Identification of differently abled persons in and around Udumalpet.
Registration of the identified differently abled persons and need based analysis is assessed.
Based on the assessment, they are motivated and trained for taking up self employment.
Arrangements are made to be employed in various institutions based on their disability.
The College is a training center for differently abled persons in Udumalpet Taluk of Tirupur District.
The Special Job Fair was conducted for differently abled persons.
