DEPARTMENT OF Physics

Introduction

The Department of Physics was established as a Major Department in the year 1986 at the B.Sc Degree level and the department is now upgraded as a PG department from the academic year 2013-’14. Every year our under graduate students take-up National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE) conducted at the All-India level by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) in the month of January. Students also attend summer internships in the Experimental Physics hosted by Institutions such as Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education and Research, Mumbai, Centre of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Bharathiar University, Gandhigram University, Madras University, SiTarc, IGCAR- Kalpakkam, Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad etc. Our department periodically organizes seminars, workshops, conferences and intercollegiate competitions and motivates the students to take up the research activities.

Vision

Inculcating logical, rational, innovative and value oriented approach, imbibing a scientific passion of observation and analysis to resolve the barriers of learning.

Mission

To provide knowledge in the basic principles and concepts of Physics.
To introduce innovations in the curriculum and teaching techniques.
To create a learner centric environment by providing multiple learning opportunities.
