Introduction

Our college holds ICT membership right from the year 2010 onwards. ICT Academy provides training to faculty and students to evolve themselves into next generation teachers and industry ready students. It organises programmes in the areas of Faculty Development, Youth Empowerment, Entrepreneurship Development, Industry - Institute Interaction, Digital Empowerment, Research and Publications.

Activity Reports

2017-2018

Mrs.S.Shobana, Head, Department of Computer Science provided training to 26 III B.Sc CS, 39 II B.Sc CS, 9 II M.Sc CS, 13 III B.Sc IT and 14 III BCA (Total 101) students on Oracle Academy 60 Hrs online course “Database Design and Programming with SQL”from 19.02.2018 to 09.03.2018,(3.30PM to 5.30PM) at Computer Lab 5 and 6.

Mrs.S.Shobana, Head, Department of Computer Science provided training to faculty members of the Department of Computer Science on Oracle Academy Online Course “Database Design and Programming with SQL” from 12.02.2018 to 16.02.2018 (3.30PM to 4.30PM).

Oracle Academy webinar on Artificial Intelligence, Bigdata,Machine Learning, IoT, Future Career Path was attended by 32 students of I M.SC CS, II M.Sc CS and III B.Sc CS students on 26.02.2018 at Computer Lab 6 and each student earned 1 certificate of recognition for each technology webcast (Each student 5 certificates in total 160 certificates earned by the students).

ICT Academy awarded the college for the best practice titled Ïnnovation for Rural Women Development and Empowerment” in the category Social Initiatives and published in Best Practices- Student Engagement in Tamilnadu – A Compendium published by ICT Academy released during 32nd edition of BRIDGE 2018 – Chennai, 28 March 2018.

Three staff members Mrs.S.Shobana, Head, Department of Computer Science, Mrs.G.Krishnaveni, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Mrs.P.Yasodha, Assistant Professor in Computer Science attended the “ICT Academy Bridge 2018”at Chennai on 28 March 2018.

S.Shobana, Head, Department of Computer Science attended the Oracle Academy 5 days training programme on " Database Design and Programming with SQL" at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore from 08.01.2018 to 12.01.2018 and received Oracle Certification.

ICT Academy and Salesforce Trailhead organised "New India Student Championship 2018" - The largest learnathon (24 Hrs Challenge) on 02.02.2018 & 03.02.2018. 100 students from the Department of Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications and Mathematics(SF) participated in the competition. Mr. Jino Jose, Deputy Manager, Training, ICT Academy was the chief guest.

The Students in total earned 4839 Badges and 13,35,736 Points in the Trailhead online course.

College level prize winners are,

ICT Academy and Salesforce Trailhead awarded the college "Certificate of Appreciation" as ACTIVE CONTRIBUTOR in "New India Student Championship 2018".

12 Students participated in the Youth Talk Summit -2017 and 3 of the students are selected for finals.

Mrs.B.Sasikala, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Mrs.D.Pavithra, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and 31 students from II M.Sc.Computer Science, III B.Sc Computer Science and III B.Sc.Mathematics attended the "Youth Leadership Summit on 23.08.17 at Codissia Hall-E, Coimbatore.

The FDP Programme on “Introduction to Big Data Analytics" was attended by Mrs.V.Vadivu, Assistant Professor in Information Technology at Karpagam College of Engineering,Coimbatore on 2nd and 3rd August 2017.

The FDP Programme on “Introduction to Internet of Things(IoT)" was attended by Mrs.S.Preethi, Assistant Professor in Computer Applications and Ms.Y.Helan Cynthiya, Assistant Professor in Computer Applications at Avinashilingam FOE Campus, Varapalayam, Coimbatore on 9th and 10th November 2017.

The FDP Programme on “Introduction to Mobile App Development" was attended by Ms.E.Kokilamani, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Ms.S.Ponmalar, Assistant Professor in Computer Science at Jay Shriram Group of Institutions, Tirupur on 27th and 28th November 2017


2016-2017

The ICTACT organised a bridge programme at Le Meridian Coimbatore on 22/06/2016.The following faculty are attened the programme,

The FDP Programme on “IBM Bluemix” was attended by Mrs.K.Manimehalai.Head, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, Mrs.L.Sankara Maheswari, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore on 30/08/16 and 31/08/16.

An article on the best practice of the college, entitled “Integrative and transformative learning through digital convergence” was presented and published by Mrs.N.Rajeswari, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics in the special compendium on Journey of Transforming India - organised by ICT Academy on 28/02/2017 at ITC Grand Chola Hotel, Chennai.

The best practice for open forum – demo of online services conducted as “GVG Techno Vision 2017- A Road map to cashless Economy”, on 22/02/2017 with the 570 student registered for the programme.

2015-2016

The Entrepreneurship development cell of our college hosted an Entrepreneurship awareness camp organized by EDI Chennai and ICTACT on 28/01/15. The Resource person is Mr.I.Stalin Jacob, Head Academics, Native lead foundation.

The Enterpreneurship development cell of our college conducted a meeting on 2nd June 2015. The Resource persons are,

The EDI, ICTACT and our college conducted the second phase of the Entrepreneurship development programme on 14/07/2015. The Resource persons are,

2014-2015

ICTACT initiated a youth talk contest for the college students to deliver short talk on “ Inspiring ideas ”. The 20 of our college participated in the regional level pre-screening event on (August 2015).

ICTACT “Youth Leadership Submit” 2015 has been held at Coimbatore Codissa hall, on 23th September. The 12 students of our college participated in the programme.

A 2 days workshop on ”Use of SPSS in Research” was organised by ICT-ED cell of our college for the PG students of Commerce and Economics on 26/08/14 and 27/08/14. The resource persons are Mr.E.Virian clemntz and Mr.S.Azarudheen. Were the resource persons.

The ICT-ED cell of our college organized a workshop on “Report Writing” on 28/07/14. The resource person is Dr.B.Vanitha, Associate Professor in Economics, Bharathiar University addressed the PG students of Commerce and Economics. Bharathiar University was the resource person.

2013-2014

Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women and ICT Academy of Tamilnadu jointly organized a short time course on “Cloud infrastructure and services” for two months.

The class is handled by the faculty members,
1. Mrs.G.Geetha. Head, Assistant Professor,Department of Computer Science.
2. Mrs.M.Malini., Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology.
3. Mrs.L.SankaraMaheswari, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science.
from 29/07/2013-30/09/13. Totally 84 PG students from Maths, Commerce and ComputerScience discipline attended the course.

Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women and ICT Academy of Tamilnadu jointly organized a short term employability skill development program on banking, financial services and insurance services (BFSI) sectors for 20 days(22/11/2014) for unemployed youth who have passed out during 2013-2014. The Chief guest is Mr.A.R.Ganesh Bhabu, Chief Manager, State Bank of India ,Udumalpet.

Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women and ICT Academy of Tamilnadu jointly organized a two days “ Faculty Empowerment Program” with the chief guest Mr.Jino Jose, Senior Soft Skill Trainer. The 36 Faculty members from various college participated in this programme.
