Extension

Social responsibility starts from socially responsible education, and sensitizing the students, faculty and administration on this, is the major objective of this college. The outreach programmes conducted by the college integrate social responsibility and work as the catalyst for activities that encourage students to exhibit socially responsible behavior.

  • The Extension Cell of the college has identified differently abled persons in the villages in and around Udumalpet.

  • Leonard Chesire Disabilities, South Asia Regional Office, Bangalore has highly commended the G.V.G Model for the extension activities.


Extension Report -2014-2015

All Final year students of our College of each department performed the following activities:

  • The main aim of the extension activity for this academic year is “Health Care”.


The main objective of Health Care is

  • To create the awareness about the health status of the respondents.

  • To identify the various health problems of the respondents.

  • An eye camp was organized by Aravind Eye Hospital, Udumalpet on 18.07.2014. Our final year students participated in the camp and extended their services.

  • In Joint-Venture with Women Studies Centre conducted one day camp organized by CHESHIRE HOME, Coimbatore livelihood resource centre for differently abled persons in our college premises on 20.09.2014 and our students issued pamphlets to those disabled persons in their adopted villages.

  • The data were collected through the Structured Questionnaire. A questionnaire with 50 questions was prepared and issued to the students to take the survey on health care of various people in their adopted villages.

  • Data was collected from 19,575 respondents and nearly 276 villages were covered and data was stored in “Excel Format”.

  • The students were created awareness among the people about health Care by extending their services.

  • All the students have received certificate for their extension work from the VAO or Panchayat President or the Government School Head Master in their adopted Villages as an evidence.


Extension Report- 2013-2014

All Final year students of our college of each department adopted one nearby village and performed the following activities :

  • A meeting was organized by extension cell of our college for the members of extension NSS, YRC and RRC Programme Officers & Co-opted Members. Mr.V.S.Sriram Assistant General Manager , NABARD gave a Lecture on various opportunities and Schemes available for Agriculture and Rural Development

  • Various awareness programmes like Food habits health and hygiene, Sanitation, Environmental Pollution, Moral values, General Awareness, Self Discipline, Child labour, Cleanliness, Tree Plantation, Smoking and its effects in the adopted village.

  • Teaching school children about basic mathematics, grammar, basic science, self discipline, computer basics, functioning of our organs, Yoga, use of internet, importance of postal service, Sudoku solving, Basic abbreviations, General Knowledge, Riddles, Use of Medicinal Plants in the adopted village.

  • Extending service in labeling, arranging books, covering the new books in the college library.

  • Science day was celebrated by all the Science departments by preparing models and exhibiting them to the school children. Above 350 School Children with their staff members visited the exhibition.


Extension Report- 2012-2013

As a part of realizing the vision of our founder, our college planned to reach out to schools and base our extension programs carrying out the two vital themes Health and Women empowerment.All our final year students actively involved in extension activities. Each department adopted one nearby village and performed the following activities:

  • Various awareness programmes like getting bank loans, bank account opening, investment schemes, health and hygiene, Sanitation, Environmental Pollution, Moral values, General Awareness, Self Discipline, Child labour, Cleanliness, Forestation and deforestation ,Tree Plantation, Smoking and its effects , Cancer and its types in the adopted village.

  • Survey based report writing under topics like differently disabled, dropout rates, aged people and their food habits, literacy rate etc in the adopted village.

  • Teaching school children about basic mathematics, grammar, basic science, self discipline, computer basics, functioning of our organs, Yoga, use of internet, importance of postal service, Sudoku solving, Basic abbreviations, General Knowledge, Riddles, Use of Medicinal Plants in the adopted village.

  • Conducting various competitions like drama, story telling, running, jumping, quiz, games etc to the school children in the adopted village.

  • Science day was celebrated by all the Science departments by preparing models and exhibiting them to the school children of their adopted village. Above 400 School Children with their staff members visited the exhibition and benefitted.
